Hundred Acres

This past week Mom was in town to celebrate her birthday. We fully celebrated with an Italian night and Broadway, but I still owed her a Mother's Day gift. Brunch seemed an obvious choice. That way I got to benefit too! ;) I have a long list of NYC restaurants I've been wanting to try. After some debating I landed on Hundred Acres. It's a farm to table, Southern infusion restaurant that's beautiful and nearby my apartment. (Not to mention, it's visited by a certain blonde socialite on Gossip Girl.) What's not to love?

The menu is always changing. You can count that the ingredients will always be fresh and your food will be delicious.

Subway tile and marble counters are both components of my future dream kitchen.

Bellinis to start, cin cin!

The space had lots of big windows that allowed the sun to pour through. They were beautiful, but proved to be a problem for my picture taking.

We just couldn't pass up the ricotta fritters. They're served warm and drizzled with honey and powdered sugar.

When I looked at the menu online this caught my eye, and I had been dreaming about it ever since: goat cheese bread pudding with spinach, poached eggs, and lemon butter. MMMMM

Mom went for the egg scramble with a bunch a fresh veggies and a big hunk of cornbread. Truly Southern.

In hindsight the fritters on top of the bread pudding on top of the cornbread might have been a little too decadent, but I don't regret it in the slightest.

After brunch we just happened to stumble upon a once a year street fair that was taking place just a couple blocks away from my apartment. It was a beautiful day and we needed to walk off our carbo-loaded brunch, so we decided to take a stroll.

How much is that doggie in the window??

Lo

College Educated

I scidaddled back up North to celebrate one real cool dude graduating college. I know Lo would have loved to be there as well to give Austin a jolly o' pat on the back, so this is just as much for her viewing pleasure as it is yours.

We threw on our party pants and dove into the sea of cream and crimson toasting to all the grads and the awesome things they are all about to embark on.

It's tough being the friend of a blogger. Your very own personal paparazzi.

Anna, she pretty much epitomizes awesome if you couldn't see it radiating off of her.
 Ashley my old futbol buddy...

 Bahama Mama, yes, please.

I'm feeling awfully sentimental through this blog post. I just love these people so much.

Lo's mama makes this bomb chocolately, peanut butter cake that I insist Lo does a blog post on.

 A little ray of sunshine...
Ya think we are related or something?

The college grads! Way to be awesome Mitch, Sam, Austin, and Chris! You just look smarter. Welcome to the world of #postgradproblems.

And this my friends was the beginning of the end.
xoxo,
Bee

Top Frocks: 2014 Met Gala

While everyone was celebrating Cinco de Mayo this Monday, the fashion world was celebrating one of its biggest nights of the year, the Met Gala. It's comparable to the Oscars of fashion, except it's mainly just about seeing what everyone will wear. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute hosts this fundraiser with a specific theme each year. This year brought big changes and the Costume Institute   officially became the Anna Wintour Costume Center, because clearly Anna Wintour is the ultimate authority when it comes to fashion. The Met Gala is an event that lends itself to the avant-garde and allows attendees to push the limits a bit. It's a time when the designer is as important as the celebrity wearing the dress, and most bring the designer as their date. You know how much I love a red carpet, so I've scoured all the looks and rounded up my favorites.

5. Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung
Black and white dresses ruled the red carpet Monday night, but this one was definitely my favorite
    of them all.

4. Chrissy Teigen in Ralph Lauren
Seems like she's ended up on my list before (see: Grammys). Perhaps I should be keeping an eye out
    for her.

3. Kristen Wiig in Balenciaga
I thought this look was very cool and a bit risky. If you're going to take a fashion risk, it might as
well be at the Met Gala. Also, the fashion world has been buzzing about Alexander Wang's recent
take over of Balenciaga, so wearing this designer was a smart move.

2. Blake Lively in Gucci
She looks absolutely glamorous, and her #2 spot has nothing to do with my recent Gossip Girl binge,
    I promise.

 1. Emma Stone in Thakoon
I'm usually a fan of her style, which has also been getting a lot of buzz due to all her press action of
late, so I was very interested to see what she'd choose. She definitely did not disappoint. I think hot
pink can be super cool if done right, and she's very on trend with the crop top. I also love that she
went with a slightly unexpected designer.

p.s. that is Thakoon that she is pictured with
