Clarington

I was jolly as could be as we meandered around free of schedules and plans. Just a few buddies hanging out.

Laura nerds out half the time. Every time she answers my phone calls she is whispering from her study station in the library. It seemed only fitting to get a bonafide tour of Claremont Graduate University.

Let's just say, I'm not really sure how anyone gets anything done. I'd just want to play outside the whole time.

Peace and love? 2 years of California sure does make you happy.
A tree hugger
And a yogi?

Okay okay enough with the jokes. Laura is still a Midwestern gal through and through. We love her all the same.

As I flip through these pictures I really wish I would have cartwheeled through this greenery. Hey, I climbed that mountain back there…kind of.
Orange you glad you are reading this blog. No? I think you are. Probably thirsty for some orange juice as well.

So we scrambled through the campus clicking away but had to spruce ourselves up for a night out on the town. It was an eventful evening. The kind that is like a puzzle in the morning that you try to piece together over a tall Bloody Mary and mounds of brunch.

This was the only picture from the evening. Santa Monica treated us with a live band and I got to practice my tambourine skills. Apologies dear friends.

The lesson from the evening kids, never go home with strangers.
The morning after was a bit grim, and I think we were all feeling a bit on the crabby side. We rallied come late afternoon just in time for the University of Dayton vs Syracuse game.

Laura is a UD grad herself. Despite her lack of knowledge in most sports she was feeling pretty anxious. I hopped on the Flyer bandwagon and we cheered them to victory from a humble bar in Manhattan Beach.

Exhausted and stuffed we parted ways with Fitz saying our farewells.

Terribly, ugly place Los Angeles is. This must be what is like to fall in love with a city. I think I'll be back sooner rather than later.

On to the next adventure…

LALA

Disclaimer: This has a lot of words. I'm a bit of a storyteller.

In desperate need of some sunshine and well earned mental health days, I added on a few days of fun in Los Angeles after I did the whole business thing in Vegas.

My spontaneous trip meant an epic reunion with my best girl, Laura. Those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting her should know that she is the bomb diggity. We laughed, we cried, and talked endlessly. Just what the doctor ordered for my dwindling sanity. I think this photo sums up how we feel about each other.
As soon as I got off the plane, Laura, Fitz, and myself did what any Californian would do…headed to the movie set for the new Entourage movie where we would be playing extras. Fitz's big bro, Fitz (imagine the confusion), is a director for the movie. Being one cool dude, he helped launch or shall I say catapult our acting careers into inevitable fame. You should be able to find us on IMBD come next summer ;)

But seriously, it was one for the books. We were inches away from movie stars in a gorgeous beach house overlooking the Pacific. I got to play dress up, Laura was fondled by celebrities, and Fitz was a professional actor when it was all said in done.
This led to three hyper buddies drinking, eating, laughing, and enjoying some incredible views.

I apologize for so few pictures. I didn't want to be that girl on the set so I left my camera and phone behind to avoid the temptation.

After an exhausting day we chowed down on In N Out lettuce burgers (Laura and I gave up bread for lent), and rested up ready to tackle our 5.5 mile hike the next morning. Hollywood, lettuce burgers, hiking…how California are we?

Girl is packing snacks in that baby coat. We joked but man, they came in handy.

Just eatin' some snacks.
And having some laughs.

Once we made it down we headed to downtown Claremont for some fish tacos.

Hang tight for more folks. Tomorrow we will take a tour through the eyes of a graduate student and wrap up some more of my West Coast adventures. Catch ya on the flip side!

Bee

IU Weekend

With one of my internships wrapping up, I had a few free days to myself. I decided this was the perfect chance to take an adult spring break and head back to Indiana. It just so happened that two of my best friends, Aly and Kim, were also going to be around the weekend I was home. Now that we're all busy being adults and spreading out across the country, we don't get to see each other much. We decided to have a little reunion with our alma mater. It was perfect.

It was a beeeeautiful day when we arrived in Bloomington. We decided to take a little meander through campus, ever grateful that we now can soak it in without having to go to class. IU really does have one of the best campuses you'll ever see, built with lots on Indiana limestone and filled with tons of greenspace.

Posing with our friend Herman B. Wells. He's somewhat of a legend at IU. Truth be told, I never really gave this statue a second glance in school, but for some reason we decided it would be a good photo op.

The Rose Well House

The union is definitely one of my favorite spots on campus.

It's not really a spring day in Bloomington unless you're sitting on Kilroy's patio having a drink, so after our walk that's exactly what we did.

So glad I got to reunite with these girls and visit our old stomping grounds. I'm thinking it should be an annual trip!

XO,
Lo
