Serendipity

This past week one of my favorite mother-daughter duos, Jeni and Caroline, were in the Big Apple. Luckily, they love food and fun as much as me, so we had a week full of just that. Our first stop was Serendipity, an institution in NYC. It's been around since 1954. It's always been on my list but I hadn't yet visited. Jeni and Caroline have always raved about it, so I was pretty excited for my first experience.

I would describe the decor as a little girl's dream playroom, with lots of colors and whimsical decorations.

A flying monkey made of grass? ok. It fit right in.

Serendipity has a massive dinner menu (literally) but what they're really known for is their over-the-top desserts.

That's, like, a whole chicken....in her bowl. But you can never have enough fried chicken.

I was in the mood for some comfort food and opted for the chicken pot pie.

I think someone who drops $1k on a sundae might need to re-evaluate their life, but I'm oh so fascinated by this. Maybe one day they'll let me test it out for the blog? Yeah?

The moment we had been waiting for: dessert! We decided on the frozen hot chocolate and a sundae with hot fudge and caramel sauce. MMMMMM.

The frozen hot chocolate is the dessert they're best known for. I had expected it to taste basically like a milkshake. To my surprise, it actually tasted like hot chocolate....but frozen. Imagine that! (p.s. can you tell Caroline is also a blogger by all my shots with her camera in the background? ha)

I have to say the sundae was my favorite. I'm just a sucker for hot fudge. It was out of this world!

Look at all that drippy goodness.

So excited for Caroline to be coming to NYC for school this fall! You should all be too, because blog posts always get better when you have blogging friends around ;)

Lo

Friends

Being that it's the weekend seemed like the perfect time to post about yet another NYC weekend brunch. This one was extra special because a couple of my besties, Jordan and Olivia flew into town to help me celebrate my birthday a little bit early. Their trip was filled with lots of festivities, but nothing says welcome to the city like a good ol' boozey brunch. We hit up Agave, a nearby Mexican restaurant that has top notch margaritas...which also happen to be unlimited during brunch!

Of course stop #1 is always for coffee. I became THAT girl who takes pictures of her coffee art, but aren't they just so cute?

Round 1, Round 2.

Note to self: you know a margarita is good (and strong) when it's not green.

Double fisting at its finest.

Deep discussion.

Jordan got the Southwestern style eggs benedict complete with chipotle hollandaise. I got some incredibly delicious huevos rancheros. Olivia ordered french toast at our Mexican brunch so her food doesn't get a picture, I hear it was very tasty though.

The best part of the brunch: present time!

Happy off our margarita buzz, we decided to take a stroll through my hood.

Look familiar? Our stroll took us by Carrie's apartment from Sex and the City.

More of our assorted adventures to come. Stay tuned!

XO,
Lo

Abigail

Pardon my sentimental banter as I weep uncontrollably over here. One of my longest and truest friends, Sarah, just had a baby not all that long ago. I had the honor of being invited to watch this little angel get baptized.

Let me give you a tiny background. Eighteen or so years ago my family moved to a new neighborhood where we knew no one in this tiny little town. I was just moseying around the yard, pondering life, when this little ray of sunshine invited me to come play. From that moment we were hooked, bonded for life. We have shared every moment together for nearly the last decade everything from late nights of flashlight tag to years on the soccer field and basketball court. We worked together, played together, vacationed together, and I even stood weepily by her side as she said "I do." In the mix of her three brothers I will always be her sister.

Surely now you can understand why I am such a sap over here. My love for her sweet baby Abigail is just the kind you can't put into words.

These lads were cheery, lookin' for a little love. I was there to give it.

Luke, always one with nature. Southern Indiana does have its moments where the views can take your breath away. There's nothing quite like rolling fields on fields.

It turned out to be a beautiful day with lots of laughs and lots of love. I couldn't be happier that I got to be part of it.
